Governor Linda Lingle was on hand at the FHB/HHSAA Football State Championship Division II title game on Friday, Dec. 1 at Aloha Stadium, to present the runner-up and championship trophies to Kauai High and King Kekaulike High, respectively.

Both teams played their way into the HHSAA record books as the first neighbor island teams to win a state football semifinal and to advance to the championship game. The King Kekaulike Na Alii became the first neighbor island team to claim the Division II title, with a 33-20 win over the Red Raiders.
